The African American Resource Center / Multi Cultural Foster Care provides a variety of therapeutic services to children and families in Pierce and King County. Services include licensed foster care as well as a number of services that are provided to individuals and families in the community. The center specializes in providing services to African American families, but provides quality services to all families regardless of nationality or ethnic background. Our mission is to provide treatment services that will allow children and families an equal opportunity to improve the quality of their lives.

Intensive Children’s Services (Treatment Foster Care) - Intensive Children’s Services (ICS) is comprised of two distinct programs, Specialized Family Care (SFC), and Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC). ICS, a Child Placing Agency, also recruits and trains its own foster parents.
Specialized Family Care (SFC) provides specialized and extensive outpatient treatment with 35 slots for children from 3 to 17 years of age who are in foster care, at risk of being placed outside the home, or are returning from out-of-home placement. The SFC program provides treatment and basic foster care and in-home wrap-around services to these children and families through Children’s Administration.
In addition to regular and treatment foster care, services may include individual, family or group therapy, case management/care coordination with other child-serving systems, case aid support, respite services, or 24-hour crisis response. The SFC program also provides community resource and support linkage to other services necessary to support the child, including collaboration with schools, the juvenile court and the Children’s Administration.
The goal of SFC is to work with the biological family whenever possible to reunite the family or to secure another long-term placement for the child. The program capacity is 20-25 children. Placements may be short-term or up to 18 months.

The Pierce County Alliance is a private non-profit, 501(c)3, social service agency incorporated originally as “The Pierce County Drug Alliance” in 1972 to coordinate local drug treatment services. The name was changed in 1981 to reflect a broader range of programs undertaken by the agency as it expanded programs to better respond to community needs and the multi-faceted problems of substance abuse and mental health.
Mission: The mission of the Pierce County Alliance is to undertake leadership in the provision of human services, specializing in substance abuse, mental health and adolescent services for individuals, families, and the community.
The organization strives for client satisfaction through continuous quality improvement of services that are cost effective and that deliver measurable outcomes.

Tacoma Youth for Christ Foster Care is a private agency licensed by the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) in Washington State to provide temporary or permanent out of home care for children and youth, ages 0-18 years. Overall, our mission is to serve the State of Washington by recruiting, training, certifying, and supporting Christian families to serve children in the foster care system…..whether if it is for one night or permanently providing a family for them. These children have been removed from their families due to sexual/physical abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Youth for Christ role is to certify families to provide foster care services by taking them through the licensing standards set by DSHS. Youth for Christ screens, trains, and provides a licensing home study on each family. After the family is licensed, Youth for Christ works closely with the Department of Social and Health Services in placing children. Youth for Christ only places children under the jurisdiction of the State of Washington. After placing children, Youth for Christ contracts with the Department for case management services including: 90 day health and safety visits to the foster home, supervision of the visits between birth families and their children, and monitoring the children’s progress in school, counseling, and the foster home. Our case managers arrange respite and provide supportive services to the foster families and participate on the team that make final recommendations as to whether children return home, move to a relative, or are adopted. In addition, Youth for Christ’s desire is to provide support for foster families, provide case management services to the children while in foster care, and to help support the biological parents whose children are placed into our program. Youth for Christ believes that foster parents are undertaking a very challenging task when they enter the foster care system and, therefore, deserve a high level of support. Youth for Christ also provides our foster families opportunities to meet and interact with each other through trainings and support groups. Our staff provides a monthly support group including a catered meal and free childcare which has proven to be an important time for families as they are able to share similar challenges and successes.

Community & Family Services Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to foster parents who are committed to caring for abused and neglected foster children ages 0 to 18. This agency licenses and supports foster parents who care for and nurture children and youth with high needs, at-risk youth, medically fragile youth, and behavioral adolescents, developmentally disabled and pregnant and parenting teens. We provide foster parent training, have 24 hour crisis support, and provide a Case Aide program. An established Visitation Center is available on the premises for referred families. Foster parents who are able to provide short or long term foster care, foster/adopt, respite services and therapeutic homes are encouraged and supported through services offered by this agency. CFSF seeks to provide encouragement and support to its foster families through a variety of different means.
